Frequently Asked Questions
I have a Masters and PhD in Autism and a post graduate degree in counselling. I have worked with people who have Autism for 18 years and have practiced as Autism Approach for 10 years.
I have previously worked as a behaviour support practitioner but have moved away from that role towards a more person centred approach that equips clients to develop independence, life goals, esteem and clarity.
We offer Autism friendly counselling services for children and adults. We also offer psychoeducation sessions for people wanting additional knowledge or strategies to support their lifestyle. At times we can offer Early Intervention play therapy depending on the time commitment for children. We also offer telehealth counselling and education sessions. See our Services page for more information.
In the interest of full disclosure, I have a son who has Autism and I myself have Autism. There are several members of my family who have Autism, as well as many friends. This allows me to view and understand Autism from a range of lenses. I have also had years of working with people of a range of ages who have Autism. Even though I've had 18 years experience in this field, I am always learning from those that I meet. I try to keep my approaches flexible and client centered.
